Notes: In 2007 Elton Vineyards was named one of Oregon's top ten vineyards by Wine Press Northwest, and in 2006 Wine & Spirits listed it as one of the five key vineyards in the new Eola-Amity Hills American Viticultural Area. The vineyard now includes sixty acres planted on east-southeast slopes of the Eola Hills, just west of Hopewell, in Yamhill County, in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. The elevation rises from 250-500 feet, and the vineyard soil is primarily Jory and Nekkia. The grapes are cold-soaked for 6 days. Spontaneous native fermentation occurs and gentle punch-downs or pump-overs happen twice per day. The wine undergoes 100% native malolactic fermentation and is aged in 30% New French Oak.
Aromatically the wine is mixed berries, rose petals and a savory scent of dried rosemary. On the palate, there are notes of brambly, barely ripened mixed red and black berries, wet rocks, as well as smooth tannins and refreshing acidity.
