Notes: One of the oldest and most respected vineyard sites in Oregon's Willamette Valley. The name "Tualatin" originates from local indigenous people and means "gentle and easy flowing" referring to the local Tualatin River that meanders on its way to the confluence with the Willamette River. The site is located in the coastal rain shadows near Forest Grove, Oregon in ranging elevation of 350-900ft, and the vines age averages 45 years old. The unique Laurelwood soil profile at Tualatin has contributed to the complex nature of the wines. The grapes undergo a six-day cold soak before experiencing spontaneous native fermentation, with gentle punch downs or pump over twice per day. The wine goes through 100% native malolactic and is aged in 30% New French Oak.
Aromatically the wine jumps from the glass with raspberry cobbler, fresh cherries, rose petals, as well as an underlying aroma of brambly berry fruits. On the palate, the wine is heavily influenced by cherry, a hint of baking spice, and bright acidity.
