Notes: The Margerum Estate Syrah is made from 100% organically farmed fruit growing on stunning hillside and estate property overlooking the Santa Ynez Valley. With steep elevations and diverse low nutrient soils comprised of a combination of clay loam and limestone outcroppings on a limestone base. Margerum has planted a complex array of Syrah clones, some own-rooted and three blocks coplanted with Viognier. Five clones are: Estrella, 470, Alban, 7, and 877.
This wine was matured for 10 months in a mixture of 13 old and new Ermitage barrels and was never racked until bottling. 55% of the grapes were fermented as whole-cluster.
