Notes: Made up predominately of Tempranillo, with remaining amounts Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano from the Sajazarra vineyard within Barrio de la Estación, Haro, of Rioja Alta, the vines were planted between 1926-1976 upon beds of calcareous clay and alluvial soil. These grapes are always the last ones to be brought to the winery. The late picking ensures ideal ripening for Muga’s top wines. Fermentation occurs by indigenous yeast in 10T oak vats produced and assembled at the winery, with no temperature control. The maceration times vary and can go for up to 20 days. The wine ages for 12 months in oak vats, before being transferred into French oak barrels for another 36 months of aging, ending with a final 36 months of additional aging in bottle.
